Spring: awakening and fertilizing

• Apply slow-release organic sedum nutrition (approx. 25-35 g/m²).
• Clear rainwater drains, leaf guards, and gravel borders from winter debris.
• Hand-remove wind-blown weed seedlings without tearing root mats.
• Activate automated irrigation systems for living walls and test pressure sensors.

JUNE TO AUGUST

Summer: drought and heat monitoring

• Sedum roofs do not require regular watering; during extreme 3-week droughts, apply a deep soak.
• Inspect indoor living wall reservoirs and automated nutrient injectors monthly.
• Perform light aesthetic pruning on indoor foliage and clear yellowing leaves.
• Confirm grow light timers supply 10 to 12 hours of photosynthetically active radiation daily.

SEPTEMBER TO OCTOBER

Autumn: winter preparation

• Rake fallen tree leaves from roof edges to prevent moisture stagnation and moss buildup.
• Apply autumn slow-release fertilizer rich in phosphorus and potassium for cold resilience.
• Drain and blow out outdoor irrigation lines with compressed air before first frost.
• Visually check roof flashing, upstands, and waterproofing membrane transitions.

NOVEMBER TO MARCH

Winter: dormancy and snow blanket

• Sedum enters dormancy and shifts to a protective bronze or reddish tone; no roof intervention needed.
• Do not shovel snow off green roofs; snow functions as a natural thermal insulation blanket.
• Inspect Maxgreenwall indoor water levels every 3 to 4 weeks.
• Extend supplemental LED light cycles for interior plants if natural daylight drops.
